Summary
After highschool, I knew I wanted to work with technology in some way.
I first began college at Ivy tech not sure of what I wanted to major in exactly.
I began learning how to code online through available resources such as Youtube - The New Boston and Team Tree House.
Afterwards, I found a game which effectively let you create your own mini-games called Project Spark.
I was less interested in actually making games than I was to just make difficult mechanics work, one of which was to emulate the game TitanFall.
The mechanics I ended up creating were actually featured by the developers to show what was possible through the game, here is a Youtuber reviewing the mechanics.
I created a couple of other mechanics, one of which being a car simulation which was designed using only the vehicle's position vector and its unit direction vector with no use of Project Spark's physics or collision system.
Based on my interest in mathematics and software development, I decided to major in Computer Science at the University of Southern Indiana.
My most memorable and useful classes I believe were AI, Operating Systems, and a SAP Business Simulation class.
The SAP Business Simulation class used a program known as ERPsim, and ended up being one of my favorite classes.
The reason it became one of my favorite classes is because I realized that a technology role is just a support role to solve a business problem.
Since I wanted to win the simulation against the other groups in the class, I used my software development talent to my advantage.
I created multiple software tools through excel and C# windows forms to do all the scheduling and supply and demand calculations (using polynomial regression).
We ended up getting first place with a company valuation of $210 Million versus second place which had a company valuation of $89 Million.
After completing all my classes, I was one of two to graduate with Summa Cum Laude in Spring of 2019 within the Romain College of Business at USI, and the only one to receive it as a Computer Science major.
